CHED Scholarship 2020 Online Application, Requirements, Guide

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will accept scholarship program applications for Academic Year 2020-2021 starting March 2020 to May 2020, per CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 08 Series of 2019 entitled “Policies and Guidelines for CHED Scholarship Programs (CSPs)”.

The CMO is an amendment to CMO No. 13 series of 2014, the Revised Guidelines for the Implementation of the Student Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) which took effect on Academic Year 2014-2015.

Update May 21, 2020: CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera said that they will not grant new merit scholarships for this year after the government re-aligned portion of its budgets to fund its combat against the coronavirus pandemic. Likewise, the current budget can only cover existing scholars. To quote from his statements at a senate hearing,

“We are giving out a notice that we will not be able to give merit scholarship for this school year,”

“Ang mapopondohan namin doon sa natitirang pera ay iyong continuing lang kasi kung tatanggap kami ng bago tapos hindi mabibigyan ‘yong continuing, mas kawawa sila.”

There were 2,467 supposed slots for the 2020 CHED Scholarship.

CSPs aim to provide assistance to deserving and financially-incapable students preferably the Underprivileged and Homeless Citizens under Republic Act No. 7279, Persons with Disability (PWDs) under RA No. 7277 as amended, solo parents and/or their dependents under RA 8972, Senior Citizens under RA 9994 and Indigenous People under RA 8371 in finishing their tertiary studies.

Online Application for 2020 CHED Scholarship is available for CHED regional offices. No need to go to CHED Regional offices. Just fill out the online form and follow the suceeding instructions.
