LEME RESULTS: August 2021 Mining Engineering Board Exam Passers

MANILA, Philippines (Updated August 16) – The August 2021 Licensure Exam for Mining Engineer (LEME) results including the complete board list of passers, top 10 examinees and overall performance of schools are released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Mining Engineering in three (3) working days after the last day of exams.

As announced, 206 out of 274 examinees passed the exams.

The August 2021 Mining Engineering licensure exams are originally scheduled on July 18-19, 2021 but later re-scheduled to August 9-11, 2021 due to the community quarantines brought by COVID-19 pandemic resulting to several travel restrictions.

The Mining Engineering board exam was conducted on August 9-11, 2021 at several testing centers located at Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Legazpi by the Board of Mining Engineering headed by its Chairman, Cornelio Q. Casido and its members, Rufino B. Bomasang and Augusto C. Villaluna.

Release of Results

Referring to the results of the previous mining engineer licensure exams, taking into consideration the restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the estimated target release date stated in the PRC Resolution No. 1283 series of 2020, the LEME results are estimated to be released in 2-3 working days or longer, after the last day of board exams.

PRC may also release the mining engineering board results for August 2021 earlier or later than the estimated date without prior notice.

Schedule of Registration

The schedule of online appointment for issuance of Professional ID and Certificate of Registration for the new Mining Engineers are specified along with official results.

Initial registrants are advised to register online via PRC official website via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and follow the steps in online registration. Here are the registration requirements:

  • Notice of Admission/NOA (for identification purposes only)
  • Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  • Two (2) pieces of passport-sized ID photos in white background and with complete name tag
  • Two (2) sets of documentary stamp
  • One (1) piece short brown envelope

PRC added that successful examinees shall personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Verification of Rating

The verification of ratings and test results for the mining engineer licensure exams given by PRC Board of Mining Engineering will be available online few working days after the posting of results.

Successful takers can refer to PRC official website and use the Verification Page to know their board examination passing rate.

As posted, a passer shall only provide the exam name, the date of examination, the application number, first name and last name and the birth-date.

Oath-Taking Ceremonies

Due to the pandemic, the oathtaking ceremony for the newly licensed Mining Engineers will be done online, now referred as the “e-oath”. The application system for the e-oath can be accessed online via PRC dedicated portal via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and  select “e-OATH” as transaction.

Inductees are required to print “OATH OF PROFESSIONAL” form that is downloadable at the PRC Online Services.

The three (3) days Mining Engineering board exam covered the following topics:

  • Mining Engineering 1 (Mineral Prospecting and Exploration; Sampling and Ore Reserve Estimation; Mining Methods, Mine Planning, Designing and Development; Ventilation and Mine Safety; and Rock Mechanics in Mining Engineering, and App lied Mathematics in Mine Mathematics)
  • Mining Engineering 2 (Mineral Economics; Mine Evaluation and Feasibility Studies; Applied Mathematics in Mining Engineering; Mine Management and Computer Application; Mine and Mineral Land Surveying; and Mining Law and Ethics)
  • Mining Engineering 3 (General Geology; Mineralogy and Petrology; Economics Geology; Structural Geology; Principles of Metallurgy; Mineral Processing; and Assaying and Applied Mathematic in Geology and Mineral Engineering, Ecology)

Mining Engineering Board Exams Summary (Stats)

LEME is one of the programs with less number of examinees conducted by PRC.

The previous Mining Engineering licensure exam was held on August 2019. During these exams, 310 out of 375 (82.67) examinees passed.

Rachel Angela Penuliar Ferrer from University of the Philippines Diliman ranked first in the exams garnering 91.20% rating followed by Gian Carlo Masagca Seblos also from UP Diliman having 90.50%.

UP Diliman was the top performing school having all of its examinees passed or 100% overall passing rate followed by Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology having 97.44% rating.
